Membership Categories

        Active 

Active members shall be residents of Indiana practicing in a field of laboratory medicine considered a practice of pathology.

They shall be graduates of recognized schools of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry or veterinary medicine.

They shall be licensed to practice medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine by the state of Indiana and shall be in good standing with the applicable licensing board of Indiana. An Active Member will be deemed to be in "good standing" with the applicable licensing board if no sanctions have been imposed upon him or her.

           

                        

They shall have completed requirements for Board certification by one of the following:

1. The American Board of Pathology

2. The American College of Veterinary Pathologists Examiner Commission

3. The American Osteopathic Board of Pathology

4. The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology

5. Or other certification boards for pathology approved by the Board of Directors

                       

Associate 

    An associate member shall meet the requirements of an Active Member except that his or her residence or practice is primarily outside the state of Indiana. Associate Members shall not have the privilege to hold elected office.

Junior

    Junior Members shall be residents of and in training in Indiana and shall have essentially completed one year of special training in Pathology and be in the process of acquiring further training and experience.  Junior memberships shall be limited to five years or until the completion of training, whichever shall occur first.


 Affiliate     

    An Affiliate Member is a scientist who by training, experience, or achievement in Pathology or any allied field is invited to such membership by the Board of Directors.  He or she shall not be eligible to vote, hold office, nor shall he or she pay dues or assessments. 

        

Honorary Members will include those medical persons who in the consideration of the Board of Directors have made noteworthy contributions to the laboratory sciences or who have advanced the usefulness of the medical laboratory.  Such members shall not vote or hold elected office, nor shall they pay any dues or assessments.
