Living under one of the most common names, all who knew him could never say Dr. James Warren Smith was a common person. He always met you with a quip or a joke that was sure to make you groan but ultimately to smile. I knew of Dr. Smith during my years at the IU Hospitals laboratories, but I was privileged to know him better in my twenty years of volunteering or employment at the Indiana Medical History Museum. He was a strong leader and a loyal friend of the Museum, which is the home of the Indiana Association of Pathologists. He will be deeply missed.
